Re: Documentation of an event in progress

Ray LaFever's message yesterday spoke of an effort by the New York State
Archives
to create an archive of Tuesday's events.

This is vitally important...collecting, organizing, indexing, preserving and
communicating
is information ... this a valuable contribution that archivists, librarians,
records
managers and historians can make.

Hope to hear more of this effort as it progresses.

Rescue workers at the World Trade Center have been bringing out photographs
and
other items...someone this morning on NPR spoke of a bachelor's degree he
had seen...

There was an image of Trinity (?) cemetery in New York on last night's news
showing
documents sticking up from an ocean of dust among the tombstones...

Then there are people with photographs and descriptions of people who are
missing...

Does anyone know if archivists, librarians, records managers etc. in New
York City
are involved in any efforts to document Tuesday's events, such as setting up
a center
to recover and index documents and other items from the tragedy ?
