Re: Archiving websites

You should also look at the guidelines developed by the National Archives of Australia (http://www.naa.gov.au/recordkeeping/er/web_records/intro.html). It goes beyond just taking snapshots and provides a high-level view of the issues involved with managing records of web-based activity over time.

We are using this document as a base for developing our own guidelines for Kansas government agencies. The Ohio Electronic Records Committee (chaired by the Ohio Historical Society) is also developing guidance for Ohio state agencies.

Hello to the list.

I was wondering what questions, decisions, and/or factors are involved in
archiving information on websites. I'm aware that this is a rather big
topic, and probably can't be answered very succinctly within the confines
of a listserv format, so if anyone could point me to relevant archival
literature - or maybe provide a few summarized suggestions - I would be
very thankful.
