Thais are a tolerant and mainly optimistic people. That's what gets them into all kinds of trouble with greedy and powerful white men.

Here, you can walk into Bangkok's equivalent of Harrods and find yourself being served by a kathoey so utterly convincing that you'd forgive yourself for fancying her or, as many unsuspecting farang do, going further. However, where men of the cloth are concerned, it's a matter of zero tolerance.
