Elaine, just looking for some clarification.

Questions and comments weaved into text. Look forward to continuing dialog.

Thanks, and Happy Holidays!

So Tom, instead of sniping at me, why not develop a positive approach?

  Am I missing something??
I have been following all these discussions, and there doesn't seem to be
any sniping or harassing going on. What is apparrant is someone asking alot
of questions and looking for answers from wherever or whoever might have
something to contribute. That seems like a pretty positive approach, as
this is the basis for scientific inquiry.

What we need to do is have a research project where someone - and why not
the ICTC? - funds a study where the conventional system approach is compared
to compost tea alone (both soil and foliar applications ala SFI approach),
to compost and compost tea applications (copmost for soil applications and
tea for foliar). Use direct methods, plate count methods, PFLA methods, do
soil chemistry as well.

You are right, we do need this type research, as well as other, but it
might be more meaningful coming from a neutral party . Having ICTC fund
this type work is akin to the pharma\chemical companies funding "their"
studies, with the magical desired outcome supporting their products.

A very solid point was made: The best place to Begin for the ICTC is to
create a central “clearing house” of all the data, studies and reports
regarding liquid composts and their uses and testing.

Nothing could be more important than this, as it is the basis for all
else.

      FROM THE ICTC PURPOSE STATEMENT:
a.. To promote awareness and public interest in using compost tea.
b.. To be a resource for accurate information, scientific data and
practical experience about compost tea in a user-friendly manner.
c.. To be a clearinghouse for national and international compost tea
standards that promote a quality product.
d.. To create a forum for education in the history, philosophy, science
and actual practice of using compost tea, that furthers the knowledge and
therefore the success of compost tea.
e.. To provide opportunities and information that promote integrity,
professionalism and education from the compost tea industry and all related
industries, including agriculture, landscape, forestry, soil science and
geotechnical engineering.
f.. To provide a unified voice that represents the best interests of
compost tea and ensures its safe and successful continuation.
Dissemination of information, and eduction is the charge for ICTC.

Use the new SFI approach for assessing what soil chemistry will become
plant available in the coming growing season, so you can figure out exactly
how much inorganic fertilizer can be dropped, or how much might still be
needed, based on testing to see what the organisms will be able to do in the
soil you are adding them to?

Please tell us about this approach and what makes it new , different, or
improved over Albrecht CEC, Reams, and radionic assessments.

Have sites in the PNW, in the SW, in the SE, and in the NE. that would
really tie things down. Make sure the study is done with replicated
testing.

  Absolutely, we need geographical representation.

Instead of constantly harrassing people, why not move ahead to what needs
to be done?
