Once the content of a publication has passed review, the next step in our publishing process is to proof and typeset. This means marking up the publication into a convenient format for our readers.
Typically our authors and editors will use Microsoft Word to create a publication, and our readers will use a web browser to read the publication. In this case, our designers will convert Word files to good-looking HTML by hand.
Knowledge gardens are connected to kitchens, where designers store their work. Just like the bins in our idea seedbank and the gardens in our knowledge farm, these kitchens are simply sections of an online database. The purpose of a kitchen is to allow authors, editors, and designers to collaborate online to produce a publication ready to serve on the public EcoAccess web site.
