TEA billboard campaign features 18 area residents

It should go without saying, but just to make sure, the Triad Equality Alliance said it loudly and clearly in a billboard campaign: lesbian and gay people are valued members of the community.

The effort featured 18 gay or lesbian Triad residents on two billboards -- nine on each sign; one sign each for Winston-Salem and Greensboro.

The Greensboro billboard was located on the south side of Wendover between Norwalk and Edwardia, facing east. Prior to this location, it spent a month on High Point Road near the I-40 interchange. The Winston-Salem billboard was located on Peter's Creek Parkway just south of Business I-40, facing north.

More than 80,000 viewers per day were estimated to have seen the message.

Once again, Greensboro photographer Dave Milstead of Square One Creative made the portraits and designed the billboards.

Following the "abOUT Face" campaign, "Valued" brought to 40 the number of individuals who have volunteered to appear on TEA billboards.
