AbOUT Face

We are your neighbors...

The Triad Equality Alliance's abOUT Face billboard campaign took place during the month of October 2004 in recognition of National Coming Out day on October 11, and appeared again in October 2005.

Courageous members of the Triad's lgbt community have volunteered to appear on seven poster panels placed in Greensboro, Winston-Salem and High Point that sent a clear message: we are your neighbors, and we are gay.

Who are they? Click on an image at left to learn a little bit about the volunteers -- who they are and why they felt it was important to make this statement.

Greensboro photographer Dave Milstead of Square One Creative made the portraits and designed the billboards.

2005 billboard locations were, in Greensboro: 1727 W. Lee St. at Warren, 2003 Randleman Road, and 2250 Patterson at Binford; in Winston-Salem: 5628 Country Club Road; Liberty and Fairchild, and Thomasvillle Road at Louise; in High Point, 900 W. Green St. facing east.

In 2004, locations included: in Greensboro, 1707 W. Lee at Warren (between Aycock and Florida facing west), 2107 Randleman Road (between I-40 and Florida St  facing north), and US 421 South (south of I-40/85); in Winston-Salem 980 Peters Creek Pkwy (between Bus-40 and I-40 facing south), Reynolds Park Rd North of Waughtown (East of 311 facing east), and US  52 north of Corporation Parkway and just north of I-40); and in High Point, 730 W.
