Song Lyrics

hyperdrama/plays/screenplays/fiction/essays/audio/video/home

Now that I've hooked up a keyboard to my computer and use Finale to transcribe sheet music, I've started writing songs again. To see my efforts, both sheet music and audio, go to my New Songs section.
I started writing songs in the 1960s, like many people of that era who fancied themselves "folksingers." My first influence was Pete Seeger in the 1950s, then in the 1960s Ramblin' Jack Elliott, who remains my favorite folksinger today.

I wrote dozens and dozens, perhaps over a hundred, songs in the tradition of Woody Guthrie and Bob Dylan, but only a few ever got performed by anyone other than myself. Here I put down the lyrics (and some audio samples) of a handful that still interest me.
