The Chessboard Assignment: |
Deadline March 6th
Purpose: In this assignment students will practice using the spline polygon, lathe tool, booleans, primitives and the object information panel to create objects. The student will also learn how to add effective lighting to a scene including Shadow maps and Raytracing
Objectives: The student will create the following chess pieces and assemble them into a aesthetically pleasing scene.
Required Pieces: The Pawn, Rook, and Bishop, Optional Pieces: The King, Queen and Knight
………. There should be shadow maps.
………. There should be some use of Ray Tracing
………. The chessboard should be a flat cube which does not have extra polygons
………. There should be at least 3 different pieces
………. All pieces should be made with an efficient use of primitives and the lathe tool
………. The object deformation tool should be used the create the bishops hat
………. Boolean unions should be used to combine the objects only after the they are
perfectly aligned using the object information panel.
………. Boolean subtractions should be used to create the notches on the bishops hat and
the cut outs in the rooks crown
………. The Object information panel should be used to create objects that are
proportional and aligned correctly
............. Each Chess piece should be saved in the Chess subfolder of the done folder as a separate object.
............ All the Chess pieces should be loaded into a single scene and saved in the Chess subfolder of the done folder
............ The Scene should be rendered from 3 different perspective views according to the following specifications
The rendered images should be saved in the Chess subfolder of your done folder
They should rendered as jpgs
Each view should be rendered at 800 by 600 AND 133 by 100 ( a total of 6 JPGs)
The large images will be called lastnamechess1, lastnamechess2, lastnamechess 3 etc
The small images will be called lastnamechess1tn, lastnamechess2tn, lastnamechess3tn etc
……… Competence should be shown with booleans and with the lath tool

………. The pieces should be arranged on the board aesthetically
